"Anpan" 84th episode: Sera's character attracts attention

The 84th episode of the NHK Asadora drama "Anpan " (General TV, Monday to Saturday at 8:00 AM and others), starring Mio Imada , was broadcast on July 24th, and viewers' attention was drawn to the character of Sera (Kihara Katsutoshi), the administrative assistant to the Diet member Maki Tetsuko (Toda Keiko).

In the early morning of December 21, 1946, a major earthquake struck Western Japan, causing great damage in Kochi Prefecture. Two days after the earthquake, there was still no contact with Kochi, and Sera reported, "All means of communication have been cut off in Kochi. I think it will be several more days before telegraph and telephone services are restored."

Worried about their hometown, Nobu (Imada) and Tetsuko say they want to go back to Kochi. When Sera tells them not to, Tetsuko becomes upset and says, "You weren't born in Kochi, so what do you know? I want to go there right now!" Sera persuades them, saying, "I experienced the Great Kanto Earthquake 20 years ago. Fires continued for three days. I still remember the eerie black smoke. Kochi has also been hit by a tsunami. It's dangerous! Please stay calm."

Even though a week has passed since the earthquake, Nobu is still cut off from communication with Kochi, and does not know the status of his family or Takashi ( Takumi Kitamura), so he seems to be distracted. Tetsuko points out to Nobu that he has tweeted Takashi's name three times in the past week without even realizing it. Nobu denies it, saying, "Three times? I... I haven't tweeted it," but Sera replies, "To be precise, I've tweeted it four times in the past week," to which Nobu exclaims in surprise, "Four times?"

Afterwards, Nobu spoke to Taku over the phone and found out that Taku had been sleeping the whole time, becoming furious and saying, "What do you mean, 'slept'? I haven't been able to sleep for the last week!" When Taku asked why, Nobu replied, "I don't know either! You did it three times before I even knew...", but Sera, who had been listening to the exchange, calmly pointed out, "Four times."

On social media, people were saying things like, "She's so good at her job it's hilarious lol," "I spit out my tea at Sera-san's calm comment," "Sera-san shone from serious to comical," "Her quip, 'It's four times,' was the best," "She's incredibly talented. No wonder Professor Maki trusts her," "I've come to love Sera-san," and "I want more comedic parts with Professor Maki and Sera-san."
