It has been announced that the band Official Hige Dandism (Higedan) will be performing the theme song "Rashisa" for the movie version of "Hyakuem.", which is based on the manga by Uoto , who is also known for "Orb: On the Movements of the Earth (Chi: Chikyu no Undo ni Tsuite). -About the Movement of the Earth-," which was adapted into a TV anime. This is the band's first new song in about eight months, and the members were so impressed by the original that this collaboration came about. A new jacket illustration drawn by the original author Uoto, inspired by the song, has also been released.
Higedan commented, "The work '100 M.' has touched and warmed my heart many times. I was very happy to be able to write the theme song for such a work. The song is called 'Rashisa'. The world is full of strong opponents, such as opponents that you can never beat, and yourself that will always get in your way. But I wrote this song as an anthem to all those people who refuse to be satisfied with these things, and who always fight hard in defiance. I hope that it will add color to the work and be a companion to the daily lives of those who listen to it."
The official trailer, which uses the theme song, has also been released. The film depicts the two men who have dedicated their lives to the 100m, starting from their elementary school days when Togashi, who is born with speed, and Komiya, who pursues records with the same passion. The latter half of the film begins with the words of the undefeated champion, Zaitsu, "Life is always full of possibilities for loss. What do you want to do?", and shows the passion and madness of the runners who have dedicated their all to athletics.
The official visual, depicting Togashi and Komiya running dynamically, was also released. The visual is accompanied by the copy, "Engrave this distance."
Advance tickets for the movie ticket, featuring a teaser visual designed by Togashi featuring Komiya, went on sale on July 18th. As a special bonus, a four-cut "100 M." sticker will be included with the movie ticket card only. The sticker features the logo of the Iwashi Second High School track and field club, to which Togashi belongs, and an illustration of Iwakoropan, a popular bread sold only at the school cafeteria in the original work. Ticket Pia will start selling movie tickets with a special bonus "2-piece set of Togashi and Komiya acrylic stands" at 10 am on the same day. It was also announced that the soundtrack CD (2-disc set) for the film, "100 M." Original Soundtrack," will be released on September 17th.
"Hyakuem." is Uoto's debut serialization, and was serialized on Kodansha's web manga app "Magazine Pocket (Magapoke)" from 2018 to 2019. It depicts the madness and passion of those who are fascinated by the brilliance of the "100m (meter)" in the world of track and field, which lasts less than 10 seconds. Togashi, who is naturally fast and has found friends and a place to belong, meets Komiya, a transfer student who simply runs as hard as he can to forget his harsh reality, and the two gradually become rivals and best friends through the 100-meter race. A few years later, Komiya, who has become one of the top runners, appears in front of Togashi, who is known as a genius runner but is terrified of the fear of having to keep winning... This is the story.
The anime will be directed by Kenji Iwaizawa, who was nominated for an Annie Award for his work on "Music," and produced by Rock'n'Roll Mountain, the same company that produced "Music." Actor Tori Matsuzaka will voice Togashi and Shota Sometani will voice Komiya. The film will be released on September 19th. It will also be released in North America in October.
