Actor Saki Takaoka will appear in the NHK Taiga drama " UNBOUND (Berabou) " (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring Ryusei Yokohama , from the 26th episode "Three Women" which will be broadcast on July 6th. Takaoka will play Tsuyo, the mother of Tsutaju (Yokohama), who suddenly returns to her home one day.
Tsuyo is Tsutaju's biological mother who was divorced when Tsutaju was 7 years old and left him behind. She used to work as a hairdresser and is good at winning people over. She excels at conversation and helps Tsutaju's Koshodo business.
When her appearance was announced in April this year, Takaoka said, "This will be my third time appearing in a taiga drama. Every time I appear, I feel a sense of tension and intend to put all my feelings into the filming. This time, I am honored to play the role of the mother of the currently thrilling actor Ryusei Yokohama! I would like to portray Tsutae, the character created by Ryusei, in a way that adds even more depth so that viewers will be convinced that 'like such parents, like such a child.'"
"UNBOUND (Berabou)" is the 64th taiga drama, depicting the life of Tsutaya Juzaburo(or "Tsutajyu" for short), who is said to have built the foundations of Japan's media industry and pop culture. The script was written by Yoshiko Morishita, known for "Drama 10 'Ooku'" which was broadcast on NHK two years ago and became a big hit.
