" Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe" was released in November 2023 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mizuki's birth. This is the first time in about 15 years that a feature film version of "GeGeGe no Kitaro" has been released since " GeGeGe no Kitaro . Kitaro's father (formerly Medama Oyaji) and Mizuki are the main characters, and "the story of Kitaro's fathers" is told for the first time.
The film is directed by Go Koga, who has worked on "Digimon Universe: GeGeGe no Kitaro" and the fifth season of "GeGeGe no Kitaro" movie " GeGeGe no Kitaro: Japan Explodes!!," written by Hiroyuki Yoshino, who has worked on "Macross Frontier" and "World Trigger," and character design by Yatabe, who served as assistant director on "Evangelion : 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time."
