It has been announced that Tsujimi Yaora's manga "Gomon Baito-kun no Nichijo," currently being serialized on the Young Animal (Hakusensha) website "Young Animal Web," will be adapted into a TV anime series and air in winter 2026. It is a "slightly dark work comedy" set in a world where killing and torture are legal, and it was also announced that the main cast of the anime will include Shunichi Toki as Cero, Terashima Takuma as Shiu, Nagatsuka Takuma as Mike, and Yohei Azakami as Hugh. A teaser visual featuring the main characters and a teaser PV have also been released.
The story depicts the daily lives of four part-time workers at Spiritus Co., Ltd., one of the leading white-collar companies in the torture industry that only targets evil people. Five volumes of the comic have been released, and the total number of copies published, including the digital version, is over 300,000.
Author Tsujimi Yaora commented, "Ever since I started drawing Torture Baito-kun, I have had many experiences that were so unrealistic that I never even dreamed of. I have only come to realize the great power of the people involved in the work and the people who read it. And now it has been made into an anime. It is no exaggeration to say that the biggest dream for a manga work has come true. It is a dream that we can all share. Please stay with me until you wake up. If possible, don't wake up."
Toki, who plays Cero, commented, "The titles, 'Gomon Baito-kun no Nichijo', give off a vivid atmosphere to this work. The original work is really interesting, with unique characters and torture devices, fast-paced conversations and wonderful human relationships. Although the title is ominous, it makes you feel like you want to have a boss like that and a workplace like that, and I hope to do my best to express this worldview of the work. Terashima, who plays Shiu, said, "When I first saw the title I couldn't help but ask out loud, 'What is it about?' (laughs). I was surprised at how the casual interactions between the characters were transformed into interesting ones by the inclusion of a keyword as far removed from everyday life as 'torture', and I became so engrossed in reading the story! I'm really looking forward to seeing how the torture scene turns out in the anime, it's so scary. All those sounds...and all those sounds...Shiu, who I'll be voicing, is an incredible character who is packed with attributes - a low-key character with blindfolded eyes, two-tone hair, a rowdy senior, and a smoker! I'll do my best to amplify his charm even more with my voice!"
Nagatsuka, who plays Mike, commented, "Torture x everyday comedy. It's a work that is built on a wonderful balance. Since the torture is limited to hopeless villains, the people involved must be righteous...probably. Mike is a cat-like boy, just like his name suggests. His mouth is always like this ω ←. Azakami, who plays Hugh, sent a message saying, "I turned the pages prepared for a rather shocking subject matter, but my fears turned out to be unfounded from the first page!
