NHK's documentary program "Document 72 Hours" (General TV, Friday 10pm) will be broadcasting an encore episode of "Niigata Jade Hunting Beach" on May 30th as a "selection."
The story takes place on a beach in Niigata Prefecture overlooking the Sea of Japan in early summer. This place is known for being a place where you can find jadeite stones, a type of precious stone. It's like a natural treasure hunt, and sometimes you find them right away, but sometimes you can't find them even after spending a whole day.
There are families searching for jade without being able to tell if it is jade, regulars who come from far away regularly as a hobby, and a woman who says that her life, which tended to be isolated at home, has changed since coming here. What is the reason that everyone comes here? For three days, we listened to them on the shore... The first broadcast will be on June 17, 2022.
The program is a documentary program that sets up a camera at one location each time and observes the various human dramas that occur there for 72 hours. It listens to the stories of people who meet by chance and captures the "present" era.
