The fifth episode of the TV drama series "PJ: Air Rescue Team" (TV Asahi, Thursdays 9pm), starring actor Seiyo Uchino, aired on May 22nd, but viewers expressed concern over the disturbing depictions at the end and in the preview for the next episode.
The drama depicts students aiming to become pararescue jumpers (commonly known as PJs, or pararescue jumpers) for the Air Self-Defense Force's Air Rescue Wing, an elite rescue unit known as the "last line" for saving lives, as they undergo rigorous training under the strict and unconventional instructor Usami (Uchino).
At the end of episode 5, a linear rain band occurs in Nagano Prefecture. Rivers flood, ground travel routes are cut off, and bridges collapse. The local police and fire departments are no longer able to rescue the residents, so they decide to send in a rescue training team.
As tense background music played, the focus shifted to Usami and Nishina (played by Gaku Hamada), whose second child had just been born. In the preview for episode 6 (broadcast on May 29), a scream of "Nishina-san!" was heard during what seemed to be a rescue scene.
On social media, there were a series of comments such as, "What's with this ominous atmosphere?", "I have a bad feeling about this", "Instructor Nishina, a new life has just been born, but you're going to the scene. You absolutely must come back", "Nishina, please stay alive (I'm already crying from the trailer)", "Oh, I'm worried about Nishina. There are so many death flags", and "Instructor Nishina, please don't die."
