A spin-off manga of the popular Gundam anime series Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury , titled Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch of Mercury: Frontier of Youth, began serialization on the website Comic Newtype on May 23. The parallel story is set in a near-future Japan and follows the encounter between two high school girls, Sletta and Miorine.
Sletta, a transfer student at Asticasia Technical College in Kanagawa Prefecture, happens to meet Miorine, the daughter of a prominent local family. Miorine can't find a dream for the future, so Sletta suggests to her, "Would you like to help me complete your bucket list?" The story is about the start of a new frontier for the two of them and their friends, who have dedicated their youth to it...
The scenario is written by HISADAKE of the creator unit "Morion Airlines," who also participated in "Mercury Witch," and the manga is drawn by illustrator and manga artist Hiro Hata. "Comic Newtype" also started serialization of Ren Sakuragi's "The Moon Doesn't Count Sheep."
The catchphrase for "The Witch of Mercury" is "The Witch Drives a Gundam." The story is set in AS (Ad Stella) 122, an era when many companies have expanded into space and built huge economic spheres. The protagonist, a girl named Suletta Mercury from the remote land of Mercury, transfers to Asticasia Technical College, run by the Benerit Group, the largest mobile suit industry company. Season 1 was broadcast from October 2022 to January 2023, and Season 2 was broadcast from April to July 2023 on the MBS/TBS Sunday 5pm anime slot "Nichi 5".
