The direct interview by the chief director Kajiwara (Tamaki Reo) and Sakikubo triggered complaints from the higher-ups of the police to JBN. Only Kajiwara, who was affiliated with the production company, was fired.
In response to this, Sakikubo was stopped by Komai Tetsushi (Yasui Junpei), head of the social affairs department. He said sarcastically, "You've been promoted from variety show to general director of Newsgate. It seems you've misunderstood. You were only given that position because you're a young woman. You need to get in line with the Cabinet Office, which is promoting the appointment of women. That way, JBN's reputation will improve externally."
Sakikubo did not remain silent.
"Thank you for your kind words, but you should just give women positions as a token and gloss over the issue. There are a lot of old men who think like that, and that's why Japan will always be a backward country in terms of gender equality!"
After saying this to Komai, Sakikubo walked away. Komai retorted, "What are you talking about? Don't you understand that you became the general director because you're a young woman?"
On social media, comments such as, "I liked the scene where Sakikubo yelled at the head of the social affairs department," "Mei Nagano, well said," "Your angry acting as Hana Sakikubo was good," "That's so true. Japan never seems to grow. No wonder it's called a gender backward country," "Japan is a gender backward country! On a world level. Thank you for making that line so clearly," and "It would be better to choose based on ability regardless of gender." were garnering attention.
