The Shueisha Young Manga Newcomer Award 2025, a large-scale manga award involving the editorial departments of Shueisha's young adult manga magazines, including Weekly Young Jump, and four manga websites, has been established and began accepting applications on May 15th. The editorial departments of Weekly Young Jump, Tonari no Young Jump, Ultra Jump, and Grand Jump will be judging each category. The final judging will be conducted by a distinguished group of artists who draw "signature works" for the company's young adult manga magazines, including Aka Akasaka, Toshio Sako, Noda Satoru, Hara Yasuhisa, and ONE.
The manga award, which is the successor to the "100 Million Yen 40 Manga Award" held on the 40th anniversary of the launch of "Weekly Young Jump" in 2019, and the "Weekly YJ 45th Anniversary Young Manga Newcomer Award" held on the 45th anniversary of the magazine in 2024, aims to discover talent that will be the "future leader" of young manga. It was also announced that the "Shueisha Young Manga Newcomer Award" will be held regularly once a year from now on.
There are 10 categories for entries: Battle/Action, Sports, Romance/Romantic Comedy, Gag/Comedy, Character, Name, No Genre, Tonari no Young Jump, Grand Jump, and Ultra Jump. The work selected as the Grand Prize winner in the final selection will receive a prize of 5 million yen, the runner-up will receive a prize of 2.5 million yen, and the judges' special award will receive a prize of 1 million yen. The prizes for each category are 500,000 yen for the Grand Prize, 300,000 yen for the runner-up, and 100,000 yen for the special award.
The application deadline is September 30th.
