Singer Seiko Matsuda will be featured on NHK's music program "The Covers." "Seiko Matsuda Night! ~45th Anniversary Special~ Episode 1" will be broadcast on NHK BS and BS Premium 4K from 10:50 pm on May 4th. The program will look back on the birth of Seiko Matsuda, an idol in her early days.
In this special feature, we will explore why Seiko's works resonate not only with the generation that feels nostalgic for them, but also with the next generation and the world as new music, through the programs' 12-year cover stories, new covers by next-generation artists, and talk.
There will also be plenty of footage from the NHK archives tracing the uniqueness and evolution of "the eternal idol, Seiko Matsuda."
The lineup for the day's "Matsuda Seiko Masterpiece Cover Selection" includes Elephant Kashimashi's "Akai Sweet Pea," Saito Yuki's "The Wind Rises," and Elaiza Ikeda's "SWEET MEMORIES." Night Tempo and Tomita Nanaka, Kimyo Reitaro, and Charan-Po-Rantan will also be performing "≠ME (Not Equal Me)." A new cover by Win Morisaki will also be unveiled.
