It has been announced that Fuji Television announcer Masaharu Miyake will be the new sports anchor for the weekday live news program "Live News It!" (Monday to Friday 3:45 pm) starting March 18. Miyake, who retired from his role as the main anchor of "Mezamashi TV" after 12 and a half years last year, is returning to the field of sports, which he says he "loves," and aims to create one-of-a-kind content by showcasing his unique and nerdy data analysis.
Miyake commented happily, "I originally joined Fuji TV because I wanted to be an announcer for sports, which is my favorite sport. I continued until I was 50 and then felt like I had done everything I could, so I moved to information programs. But as I love sports, I was happy to be asked now, at 62, to be the MC for the sports segment of a news program."
"This time, the producers told me it's okay to talk about some nerdy stuff, so I hope I can convey my unique perspective in a way that will make the viewers think, 'Oh, is that what it's all about?' and see something new. In particular, with regards to Shohei Otani, I want to convey something deeper, not just the results of the game, but also delve into his personality and feelings," he said enthusiastically.
The program's chief producer, Watanabe Takashi, commented, "Miyake, who has experience as an MC for sports and information programs, will appear on 'It!' as a sports presenter that will impress even the most enthusiastic sports fans. We are looking forward to a convincing presentation and the depth of information he can convey that only his long career can provide. I'm sure he will also comment on news topics that are close to home, livening up the studio. Miyake has many hobbies and a maniacal side to him, so I think he will show us a different side of himself on 'It!', so I hope everyone will look forward to it."
