It has been announced that the animated film "Ganbatte Ikimasshoi" (directed by Yuhei Sakuragi), based on the youth novel by Ryoko Shikimura, will be exclusively available for unlimited streaming on the video streaming service "FOD" from midnight on March 26th. "Ganbatte Ikimasshoi" is a masterpiece that has also been made into a live-action film and a TV drama, and was made into an animated film for the first time, released in October 2024.
"Ganbatte Ikimasshoi" is a novel set in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, depicting the growth and emotional turmoil of a high school girl who devotes her youth to the rowing club. It won the grand prize at the 4th Botchan Literature Award sponsored by Matsuyama City in 1995. In 1998, it was made into a live-action film starring actress Tanaka Rena, which became a long-running hit. In 2005, it was made into a TV series starring Suzuki Anne and Ryo Nishikido.
The anime was directed by Sakuragi, who served as CG director for Miyazaki Hayao's short animation "Boro the Caterpillar" and is also known for the animated feature film "Even if the World Ends Tomorrow." The script was written by Ochi Keiichiro, who has worked on "The Quintessential Quintuplets," and character design was handled by Nishida Asako, who has worked on "Love Live!". The cast includes Amamiya Sora as the protagonist Sora Amamiya, Ito Miku as Saeki Hime, Rie Takahashi Rie as Takahashi Riina, Akari Kito as Hyodo Taeko, and Ikumi Hasegawa as Imoto Mayumi. The gathering of a luxurious cast of staff and voice actors also drew attention.
