Starting March 2nd, TV Asahi's sports program "GET SPORTS" (Sunday midnight 1:55, Kanto local) will begin a collaboration project with the sports magazine "Number" (Bungeishunju). Hideki Kuriyama, who led Samurai Japan to the world championship at the 2023 WBC (World Baseball Classic) and is currently the chief baseball officer of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, will talk with a famous coach from a different sport. We will get a closer look at "the method of fighting the world while carrying the Japanese flag."
The first guest will be Japan national soccer team coach Hajime Moriyasu. This will be their first conversation in about two years. Speaking about the conversation with Moriyasu, who is aiming to participate in the 2026 World Cup in the Tri-North and Central American Tournament, Kuriyama said, "In the midst of the tension of leading such a strong Japanese national team, I would like to ask him what he values in the team to take the world title, and what kind of organization produces results."
In the interview, Moriyasu's "Moriyasu Method" will be revealed one after another, including player selection, team growth through long-term management, generational change, how to utilize veterans, and cooperation with coaches.
