It has been revealed that the movie "Dollhouse" (released June 13th), in which actor Masami Nagasawa teams up with director Shinobu Yaguchi, known for "Water Boys" and "Swing Girls", will collaborate with the popular character "Chimitan", which is popular among young people. Three collaboration illustrations have also been released, including a two-shot of Chimitan and "Aya-chan", the doll that is the key to the story.
The film is a mystery in which the protagonist, Suzuki Yoshie, played by Nagasawa, becomes embroiled in mysterious events after purchasing a doll to ease the sadness of losing her beloved daughter. Director Yaguchi also wrote the screenplay, and the film combines a thrilling plot in which a cute doll suddenly turns around and torments the family, with elements of a mystery that is gradually solved.
"Chimitan" is a "mysteriously cute hamster" created by illustrator Anya. He has become popular among young people on social media and LINE stamps, and this time, he has drawn a friendly two-shot of Aya-chan and Chimitan, a three-shot of Aya-chan, Yoshie, and her husband Tadahiko (played by Koji Seto), as well as Chimitan being "thrilled" by Aya-chan.
Anya, who watched the movie, commented, "The impact of the appearance of the doll Aya-chan kept me captivated until the end. She has an unforgettable presence once you see her, and every time she appears on screen I am in constant excitement, wondering what will happen next. The theme of this film is doll mystery, but the scenes where Aya's mother, played by Masami Nagasawa, combs her hair and dresses her in fashionable clothes...conveying a mother's love are memorable."
When drawing the illustration, he said, "I drew Aya with the image of a 'slightly precocious and cute girl' appropriate for her age." He recalls, "In the movie, it's hard to tell what she's thinking, but it was fun letting my imagination run wild, thinking that this kind of Aya might be interesting too!"
