Actor Yuki Yamada recently appeared at a press conference for the latest installment of the popular hunting game, "Monster Hunter Wilds" (Capcom). Yamada appeared nervous when he first appeared, but as the image song "Proof of a Hero" started playing, he smiled and said, "I'm really excited to be able to appear with Proof of a Hero." He revealed that he has been a fan of the series since playing "Monster Hunter Portable 2nd" 18 years ago, and said, "It's become a part of my life, so I'm happy to be involved with Monster Hunter in this way."
At the event, two TV commercials were shown: "Yuki Yamada with his Palico" and "Yuki Yamada never stops hunting with his friends." Yamada, who will be appearing in a commercial for the second time since "Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak," commented, "I'm so grateful that they've entrusted me with two consecutive titles, and I think that shows my love for Monster Hunter." He revealed that during the commercial shoot, he tried out the unplanned "Concentrated Dance 'Kaiten'" move 20 times because he wanted to recreate the action in the game, which excited the audience.
There was also a special hands-on gameplay of "Monster Hunter Wilds," with Yamada attempting to defeat the main monster, "Archeveld." While playing, he showed signs of excitement, saying things like "Wow!" and "What is this!", as if he was a child again. He also had his first hunting experience with the new monster "Nu-Egdora," which has not even been revealed in the beta version, together with producer Tsujimoto Ryozo and others. The four of them enjoyed working together in battle, and expressed their satisfaction, saying, "Playing solo is fun, but playing with everyone is the best."
At the end of the event, he expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thank you for creating such a wonderful game. I can't wait for the release date!"
"Monster Hunter Wilds" is scheduled to be released for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam on February 28, 2025. The PS5 package version will cost 9,990 yen, and the download version will cost 9,900 yen.
