Actor Kimura Yoshino will appear as a special guest on the program "Gyogyotto Sakana★Star 'Investigating the Giant Cod! Noto Support SP,'" which will be broadcast on NHK General TV from 7:30 pm on January 13th.
In this program, Sakana-kun visits the Noto Peninsula one year after the earthquake. In the sea off Noto, one of the leading cod producing areas in Japan, he takes on the challenge of catching a giant cod that is one meter long and weighs over 10 kilograms. Although cod is a familiar fish to Japanese people, little is known about its ecology, and the show touches on the origins of Japanese words such as "tarafuku," "yatara," and "detarame."
Kimura-san appears in the studio as "Mino-kasago Yoshino". She enjoys the Noto-style "tarachiri" (a dish of fish cooked with the gills and eyes of the fish). In addition, Sakana-kun will report on the effects of the earthquake in Wajima City, and will be shown interacting with local divers and children.
The program will be available for catch-up streaming on NHK Plus for one week after the broadcast.
