The first episode of the TV drama series " Japan's Number One Jerk Salaryman " (Fuji TV, Thursdays at 10pm), starring Shingo Katori , was broadcast on January 9th, and the average viewership rating (according to Video Research, Kanto region, below) was 5.6% for households and 3.1% for individuals.
The story is about a TV newsman who is involved in a scandal and finds himself at the brink of collapse, but then decides to run for office in order to change Japan, as he wants to create a better society through raising his children. This is the first time in 11 years that Katori has starred in a Fuji TV drama series.
In the first episode, Omori Ippei (Katori), a producer of a news program, is forced to leave the TV station due to a scandal. He now lives in the family home left by his father, calling himself a freelance political journalist, but is living a dull life that is practically unemployed. One day, Ippei receives advice from Makabe Kojiro ( Jun Hashimoto), the second public secretary of House of Representatives member Kuroiwa Tetsuo (Ken Yasuda Jun) and his childhood friend from elementary school, and decides to become a politician.
