The NHK program "Demolition Kingdom," which goes undercover at a demolition site, will air its episode "Demolition Kingdom: 18m Tall!! Dismantle the Giant Gundam" on January 8th at 7:57pm on NHK General TV. It will closely follow the demolition work of a moving, life-sized Gundam that is about 18m tall.
The moving life-size Gundam was installed at GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA at Yamashita Pier in Yokohama from December 2020 to March 2024. Attention is focused on whether all of the parts can be dismantled without causing a single scratch.
The program also follows the demolition site of the Port of Sakata in Yamagata, where a US Navy mine is buried. A huge 40-ton block that protects the safety of the port is to be removed, and a crane ship equipped with a huge crane appears.
