◇ Synopsis of Episode 1
On Christmas Eve, couples and families come and go, and the town is filled with excitement. University student Yamashita Kokoro is eating ramen with his father, Haruo, who is the only family member of the two of them, at a familiar ramen stand. "Thank you for joining us even though it's Christmas," says Haruo with a happy look on his face, and Kokoro feels a little embarrassed, but also savors his modest happiness.
However, that night, after parting ways with Haruo and returning home from a club drinking party, what awaited Kokoromugi was his house burning and the news of Haruo's death.
Kokoro Mugi is devastated by the loss of his beloved father, but Haruo's murderer is quickly arrested. The murderer turns out to be the son of Endo Rikiro, the perpetrator of the brutal murder of a wealthy family whom Haruo had arrested 22 years ago.
Kokoro Mugi, who learned for the first time that Haruo was in charge of such a case, visits his usual ramen shop, unable to comprehend the sudden turn of events, and receives a letter left by Haruo from the shop owner, Someda (Sakai Toshiya). Written in the letter are the names of several people, including Rikiro's son, and a statement that if any of them are suspected, it will be a "false accusation"...
