A stage greeting to thank fans for the huge success of Disney Animation Studios' latest film "Moana 2" (directed by Dave Derrick Jr. and others) was held in Tokyo on December 23rd. At the event, Matsuya Onoe, who voices Moana's partner Maui in the Japanese version, sang the song "Dekiru Sa! Chi-Fu" live. Matsuya, who performed the song in front of an audience for the first time, said, "I was nervous. I really hope this is the last time I sing in front of an audience," but smiled and said, "It was fun."
China Yabiku, the voice actress for Moana, also performed a solo version of the song "Beyond ~Koete Yukou~."Rio Suzuki, who voiced the new companion, Loto, tried rapping for the first time in this film, but Matsuya revealed that she got it right on the first try. She encouraged her to take a new path by saying, "Why don't you aim to become a rapper?"
In addition to Yabiku, Matsuya, and Suzuki, Yuta Koseki, who plays Moni, and Yuria Masutome sister, Shimea, also appeared at the event. Kinniku-kun Nakayama also came to support the event with a giant Maui fishing hook and delivered a giant Christmas cake.
"Moana 2" is the sequel to the previous film "Moana" produced in 2016. Moana was spending time with her family and friends, but after learning a legend that "if she reaches an island at the end of the sea, the curse will be lifted," she decides to go on a dangerous voyage to regain her bond. The film depicts her embarking on another adventure with Maui, the demigod who accompanied her in the previous film, and new friends.
