The 45th episode of the NHK Taiga drama "Dear Radiance (Hikaru Kimi e)" (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring Yoshitaka Yuriko, aired on November 24th, depicting Mahiro's (Yoshitaka) daughter, Katako (Sara Minami), starting her career at the palace. "After all, it's a big thing that she's now able to respect her mother," said Minami, talking about Kenko's feelings.
In the 45th episode, Mahiro's Tale of Genji finally reaches its end.
One day, Katako asks Mahiro if she wants to serve at the palace, and Mahiro proposes that she serve the new empress, Akiko (Mikami Ai), in her place. Mahiro decides to go on a trip that has been a long-held dream of hers...
Regarding Katako's decision to serve at the palace, Minami says, "I think it was mainly because she was able to respect her mother. When her grandfather (Tametoki) talked about becoming a nun, I think she probably first became aware that she might become a court attendant, but I think it was a decision she made purely thinking about what she should do in the future."
Regarding Katako after she started serving at the palace, she also has the impression that "In today's (episode 45) scene, Katako is probably very nervous in her own way, but I think you can see her strong side, or rather, she is nervous, but she doesn't show it and she works hard with a smile."
The episode also shows Katako meeting Akiko, and she said, "I think Kenko was probably very surprised and very moved that such an important person came down and spoke to her. She was a very warm person, and I think Kenko thought, I want to follow her."
