A large-scale exhibition focusing on the "pillars," the highest-ranking swordsmen of the Demon Slayer Corps who appear in the anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba," based on the popular manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, entitled "Anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Pillars Exhibition - And to the Infinity Castle," will be held at CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO (Chuo-ku, Tokyo) from November 2nd. Ahead of the opening, a preview was held on November 1st, and the exhibit was unveiled. This is the first attempt at an exhibition focusing on the "pillars" in an anime, and the exhibition will allow visitors to experience the "greatness" of the "pillars" through graphics, videos, and original drawings, including their bodies, words, expressions, and dynamism.
The various images of the Pillars drawn over the past five years of the anime are displayed in three dimensions in a large space of about 1,200 square meters and with a ceiling height of about 5 meters. The exhibition begins with "Pillars - Gathering," which shows a video of the nine Pillars coming together. It continues with "Pillars - Individuality," which introduces the breathing and trajectory of each Pillar, "Pillars - Body," which features life-size panels of the Pillars and objects that recreate the handles of their Nichirin swords, "Pillars - Words," which introduces the Pillars' famous quotes, "Pillars - Expressions," which has over 1,000 original drawings featuring the Pillars' facial expressions scattered throughout the space, and "Pillars - Dynamics," which displays original drawings of the Pillars' action scenes.
In the final corner, "And to Mugen Castle," the fall scene from the Ubuyashiki Mansion into Mugen Castle in the final episode of the TV anime "Hashira Training Arc" is expressed using projections, 3D sound, floor vibrations, wind, and other effects. In the scene where the Pillars rush to the Ubuyashiki Mansion to save the Master, the wind blows, making you feel as if you are heading to the Mansion with the Pillars. In the scene where the Pillars and other soldiers fall, the windows of Mugen Castle are projected at your feet, allowing you to experience the fall and creating a chilling sense of realism.
One of the great attractions of this exhibition is being able to hear the charm of the "voices" of the pillars. By using the "pillar cards" with illustrations of the pillars that are distributed as admission benefits, you can listen to famous quotes by the voice actors in the "Pillar - Personality" and "Pillar - Words" corners. You can choose one of the nine pillars to receive your pillar card when you enter the exhibition.
The exhibition will be held from November 2nd to March 2nd, 2025. A Demon Slayer themed cafe will also be held at the CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO CAFE, adjacent to the venue.
The story of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" is about Tanjiro Kamado, whose family was killed by demons, joining the Demon Slayer Corps to turn his sister Nezuko, who has turned into a demon, back into a human. The original was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 2016 to 2020. The total number of copies of the comics published is over 150 million.
The TV anime "Tanjiro Kamado: Unwavering Resolve Arc" was broadcast from April to September 2019, and the movie version "Mugen Train Arc" released in October 2020 was a huge hit, grossing approximately 40 billion yen, the highest ever box office revenue in Japan. The "Entertainment District Arc" was broadcast from December 2021 to February 2022, the "Swordsmith Village Arc" from April to June 2023, and the "Hashira Training Arc" from May to June 2024. There is also buzz that the new anime "Mugen Castle Arc", which follows "Hashira Training Arc", will be produced as a trilogy of movies.
