Miho Watanabe, a former member of the idol group Hinatazaka46, attended a press conference on June 11th at the NHK Broadcasting Center (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo) for the new program "The House of Truth" (NHK E Tele), which will start in July. Regarding the program, which deals with current events, Watanabe revealed with a smile, "Although I was given an outline, I went into filming without knowing the theme (of each episode). It's the scariest job I've ever had."
Takeru from the comedy duo "Tokyo Hoteison," who also appears on the show, was in attendance. Takeru expressed his frustration at Watanabe, who delivered a perfect opening speech, saying, "He said everything I wanted to say."
The show's chief producer, Masataka Ishikawa, explained the reason for not telling the two the theme beforehand, saying, "We wanted them to come in without knowing, and have the same feeling as someone watching TV when they encounter the theme for the first time." He added, "The moment the recording ends, the two of them let out a huge sigh."
"The House of Truth" is a program aimed at high school and university students who are contemplating their own future and the future of society, as well as adults striving to live through turbulent times. It introduces "basic knowledge for understanding the world more deeply" in an easy-to-understand way through solving mysteries, helping viewers become more knowledgeable about current events. It starts on July 4th and airs every Saturday at 8:30 PM on NHK E Tele. The first episode will focus on "global warming."
