Following the announcement of a collaboration between the popular TV anime "Detective Conan " (Yomiuri TV/Nippon TV) and the 23rd installment of the "Pretty Cure" series, "Detective Pretty Cure!" (ABC TV/TV Asahi), Minami Takayama , who voices Conan Edogawa in " Detective Conan ," and Hikari Chiga, who voices Cure Answer/Anna Akechi in "Detective Pretty Cure!", have provided comments.
Two anime series from different broadcasting stations and animation studios are collaborating in an unprecedented "detective" crossover. As a special collaboration episode, Conan Edogawa will appear in episode 18 of "Detective Precure!", "The Assemble of Detectives," airing on May 31st at 8:30 AM, and Cure Answer will appear in "The Perfect Truth (Answer)" of " Detective Conan," airing on June 6th at 6 PM.
Takayama described her initial reaction to hearing about the collaboration, saying, "Wait, someone's going to transform?!... Maybe Ran-neechan?!... I never imagined a collaboration that would transcend TV stations and production companies. It's truly a historic event (laughs). I'm so happy to be working with Pretty Cure, which has been loved for so long. I've been a Pretty Cure myself once (though a dark one). I was looking forward to seeing what kind of story it would be and how the two great detectives would interact."
Regarding the voice recording for "Detective Precure!", she reflected, "No matter where or what situation it is, the character remains the same, so there wasn't anything in particular I focused on in terms of acting. If I had to say something, it would be the microphone work. We recorded the two stories in separate home studios, and as expected, I was a little nervous because I didn't know what to expect in the new places. The recording itself was fun, and we chatted during breaks."
They sent a message to viewers saying, "Thank you for your continued support. Just like us, we think you were all surprised to hear about the collaboration. How will the 'Great Detectives' exist and be portrayed in each of their respective worlds...? Of course, the deduction scenes will be spectacular! Please enjoy the collaboration of the 'Great Detectives' as they travel between different worlds than usual."
Chiga shared her initial reaction to hearing about the collaboration: "Actually, ever since I first heard the title 'Detective Precure!', I've thought how wonderful it would be to be involved with ' Detective Conan' someday...! So when the producer told me about the collaboration, I couldn't help but let out a loud cheer! And when I found out that I would be appearing in ' Detective Conan' as Cure Answer, I felt incredibly honored and thrilled to be working alongside such admired senior actors."
Regarding the voice recording for "Detective Conan," she commented, "It's a very exciting development that Precure will appear in the world of ' Detective Conan,' but I tried to perform in a way that blends into the world of ' Detective Conan' while maintaining Cure Answer's unique characteristics. It's Cure Answer, but it's a little different from the usual Cure Answer...? You might see a different side of her than usual!"
He appealed to viewers, saying, "This story is packed with the best of both ' Detective Conan' and 'Detective Precure!', so I would be delighted if you would watch both works. Let's witness the miraculous moment when two great detectives from two different worlds work together to solve a mystery!"
It was also announced that collaborative merchandise such as acrylic stands, acrylic coasters, can badges, clear files, T-shirts, and towels will be released.
In episode 18 of "Detective Pretty Cure!", titled "Assemble of Detectives," Anna and her friends help prepare for an exhibition by glass artist Misako Shindo at the Hosho Museum. The main attraction is a glass slipper titled "The Forgotten Thing at 12," but a commotion ensues when a large number of glass slippers fly out of a box being transported on a cart. The slippers that flew out were fakes made of resin, and the real "The Forgotten Thing at 12" had disappeared during the commotion. Believing it to be the work of the Phantom Thieves, Anna and Mikuru search outside the museum for clues, and there they unexpectedly encounter Conan Edogawa, Ran Mouri, and Kogoro Mouri, who are visiting Mirai City. The Detective Pretty Cure and Conan Edogawa team up to solve the mystery and confront the Phantom Thieves.
In the "Hanamaru Truth Answer" episode of "Detective Conan," a series of jewel robberies occur in Beika Town. Ayumi, drawing parallels to the story of her favorite anime "Pretty Cure," is excited, thinking, "If the thieves show up, I'll get to meet Pretty Cure!" Conan and the Junior Detective League are assigned to guard Kaneko Jewelry Store, rumored to be the next target. After tailing a suspicious customer and discovering the date of the crime and the hideout, the police seem to have rounded up the thieves, but Ayumi notices something odd.
The motif of "Detective Precure!" is "detective," and the theme is "seeing, feeling, and thinking for yourself to find the 'real' answer." The main characters are girls who work as detectives with the desire to "help people in need," and guided by a mysterious power, the main character time-slips from the present day of 2027 to 1999. A story of new encounters, friendships, and growth for the Precure across time is depicted. It is currently airing every Sunday at 8:30 a.m. on ABC TV and TV Asahi.
"Detective Conan" is a popular manga series by Gosho Aoyama, serialized in the manga magazine "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan). It depicts the adventures of elementary school detective Conan Edogawa as he solves one difficult case after another. It airs every Saturday at 6 PM on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV.
