It has been announced that a spin-off of the popular light novel "Record of Lodoss War" will be distributed as a webtoon. LINE Digital Frontier, REDICE STUDIO, and KADOKAWA have jointly established a webtoon production studio called "STUDIO WHITE," and the spin-off of "Record of Lodoss War" will be the first project to be released by this studio. The Korean version will be available on NAVER WEBTOON from May Getsuku, and the Japanese version is scheduled to be released on LINE Manga and ebookjapan in the second half of 2026. It will also be available in English, French, Traditional Chinese, Thai, and Indonesian.
In the future, there are plans to create spin-off webtoons of "Sword Art Online(SAO)" and "Slayers," as well as webtoons based on the original "The Familiar of Zero."
Ryo Mizuno, the author of "Record of Lodoss War," commented, "More than 30 years have passed since the birth of 'Record of Lodoss War.' I am deeply moved that this work is taking on a new development as a webtoon. This work is set in an 'unknown war' that has never been told in novels before. I provided the original concept, and entrusted the construction of the characters and story to a production team I trust. I myself am looking forward to its completion as a reader to see what kind of battles will be depicted with the dynamic presentation unique to vertical scrolling. I hope that this work will reach a wide audience, both as a new chapter that fills in the gaps in the history for long-time fans and as an introduction to fantasy war stories for those who are new to it."
