The 57th episode of the NHK Asadora drama "Bakebake " (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 AM and others), starring Akari Takaishi , was broadcast on December 16th, and viewers were drawn to the scene in which Ibu Masato, who plays the head priest of Daiouji Temple, tells a ghost story.
In episode 57, Heaven ( Tommy Bastow) receives an exorcism at Daiouji Temple. When Heaven tells the temple that she likes its atmosphere, the head priest takes her, her companion Toki (Takaishi), and Masaki (Yukito Hidaka), who came along as an interpreter, to the cemetery. There, the priest begins to tell the temple's ghost story, "The Woman Who Buys Starch Candy."
Heaven and Toki listen intently to the priest's ghost story. Heaven is so moved that she sheds tears and asks the priest, "Wonderful! Kaidan. Thank you. Kaidan... I want more!" Unfortunately, the only ghost story passed down at Daiouji Temple is "The Woman Buying Starch Syrup."
Ibu's brilliant storytelling skills have been met with comments on social media such as, "It was breathtaking," "Too good," "He was perfect for the role...," "The ghost stories told by the head priest brought the scenes to mind," "The monk's storytelling brought me to tears too... what an impressive storytelling style," "Ibu Masato is so convincing," "This is a truly shocking experience," and "I understand why they cast Ibu Masato as the head priest."
