It has been announced that actor Mizutani Yutaka and his wife, actor and singer Ito Ran, will be appearing on "Zawatsuku! New Year's Eve" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast from 5pm to 1am on December 31st. This will be the first time the two have appeared on a TV program together in about 13 years, since their appearance on "Tetsuko's Room" in July 2013, which also served as a promotion for the film "Shounen H."
Since 2022, Mizutani has appeared on "Zawatsuku! New Year's Eve" every year with Terawaki Yasufumi, who co-stars with him in "Aibou" (same channel). This year, he appeared in the studio with Ito, and the "Zawatsuku Trio" of Nagashima Kazushige, Ishihara Yoshizumi, and Takashima Chisako were delighted to see the rare photo of the two of them. Nagashima was excited to meet Ito, saying, "For our generation, Candies are the top idols of the top!"
Seeing no opportunity like this, the excited trio bombarded the two with questions. When asked how they call each other, Mizutani revealed that they often call each other "Ran-san" and Ito "Yutaka-san," and Takashima was astonished by the elegant exchange between the two, asking, "K-ke-ke, is that honorific language?" Mizutani said that while they don't usually use particularly honorific language, "we've never used rough language with each other."
When the topic turned to New Year's Eve, Mizutani said with a smile, "The moment the new year begins, I'm usually the one who shouts, 'Wow!' My daughter hugs me with that same momentum and joins in, shouting 'Wow! Happy New Year!' I look forward to that..." Ito, who is busy preparing for New Year's Day, also revealed that she and her family have been celebrating New Year's Eve together, saying, "I join in too (laughs)."
The two will challenge the noisy trio to a psychological game called "Ultimate Which One is It?", where gourmet food is at stake. In this project, Ito will introduce three of her favorite hotel gourmet dishes.
Mizutani seemed a bit embarrassed throughout the interview, appearing to be working with his wife for the first time in a while, and Nagashima commented, "Mizutani-san, your aura is somehow different than usual... We were together the other day on location for 'New Year's Dream Battle 2026 Kinashi Noritake's Sports KING!' (broadcast on January 2nd), but you seem quite different from then, don't you?" Ishihara also pointed out, "I feel like you're different from when you're with Terawaki-san!"
