"Now You See Me: Now You Don't" is a stylish crime entertainment film about four super illusionists who use brilliant illusions to take on huge conspiracies and criminal organizations. It has recently been announced that the Japanese title of the third film in the series, which will be released for the first time in 10 years, will be "Now You See Me: Now You Don't" (directed by Ruben Fleischer), and that it will be released in Japan in early summer 2026.
The series is known for its spectacular illusions and clever storylines that fool even the audience. The first film, "Now You See Me" (directed by Louis Leterrier), released in 2013, saw the group successfully pull off three heists, including robbing a Paris bank during a show in Las Vegas, outwitting the FBI. The second film, "Now You See Me 2" (directed by Jon M. Chu), released in 2016, saw the super illusionist group "The Four Horsemen" become embroiled in a conspiracy at a global IT company and engage in a battle with a genius engineer.
After that, they went into hiding, but in the third film, they are back on the move with the addition of three new generation magicians. This time, their target is the Vanderburgh Corporation, which is involved in the diamond business as well as arms dealers and criminal money laundering. In an attempt to steal the Heart Diamond, said to be the most valuable diamond in history and handed down through the family, they stage a spectacular heist across the globe, including New York, Antwerp, France, South Africa, the Arabian Desert, and Abu Dhabi.
The cast reunites the original Four Horsemen, played by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, and Isla Fisher, along with Morgan Freeman as the legendary magician. This time, the villain is Rosamund Pike, who plays the elegant and ruthless "Queen of Diamonds," who stands in the way of the Horsemen.
The three new magicians are played by Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Ariana Greenblatt, and the film is directed by Ruben Fleischer, who has worked on films such as "Venom" (2018) and "Zombieland" (2009).
The main cast and director appeared at the world premiere, which was held in New York on November 10th local time. Their comments are as follows:
◇Jesse Eisenberg (role of Atlas)
More than anything, I love this movie, the role I'm playing, and the cast. For me, this job is a reward. Most of the characters I play, and in real life, I'm a rather pathetic person. In this film, I play a confident, arrogant magician. I'm happiest when I get into this role. What we set out to do with this film was to actually perform magic. That meant all the actors had to learn these complicated tricks and actually perform them. This film is a great movie, but it's also a magic trick. It would be great to experience it with a group of people in a theater.
Woody Harrelson (as Merritt)
(When asked where he would like to infiltrate if he were a Horseman) Fort Knox. Merritt has always been sarcastic, but I think he's reached new depths of cynicism. I've never laughed so much on a project before. All day, every day. It's amazing!
◇Isla Fisher (Henry)
It's always great to play an escape artist. We shot in Abu Dhabi and Budapest, building a magic castle with a rotating room, a room filled with mirrors, and even a Houdini straitjacket - it was amazing! Whether you're into magic or not, you'll love this movie.
◇Dave Franco (Jack)
I'm not the type to praise myself, but let me say this: I've worked hard, done my homework (practice), and I've gotten so good at throwing cards. I can even use cards as weapons, enough to cut a banana in half. (When asked what he would like the Horsemen to steal) Well... I'd like them to get two or three more cats. I have two at home, Max and Otis, and the more the merrier.
Rosamund Pike (Veronica Vanderburgh)
This movie is full of magic and charm, and has a fantastic cast. It's fun to watch smart people doing smart things. The idea that you can take down the powerful through magic and illusion is brilliant.
Morgan Freeman (as Thaddeus)
I love Ruben (director Fleischer). We got along really well and have remained very close even after filming finished. You can watch the movie on TV, but it's a completely different experience. There's something very special about enjoying it in a theater with a group of people.
◇Justice Smith (new member Charlie)
It was an honor to work with this director and cast. I'm a big fan of "Zombieland," and I was nervous before filming because the director and cast (Jesse and Woody Harrelson) make this film, and the Ensemble is full of big names with unique personalities, so it's unpredictable, but they welcomed me so warmly. This film has magic, comedy, and action. I think you'll want to see it on the big screen.
◇Dominic Sessa (new member Bosco)
Even though we're a young group, we're kind of helping the older group mature in a way. It's the perfect relationship we have. We all have our own unique personalities and are the most interesting people in the world. It was the most fun set I've ever had.
Ariana Greenblatt (new member June)
My character, June, is full of energy. It's fascinating to see how people of different generations come together, strengthen their bonds, and cooperate. I feel that the world today needs some magic. I think this film will allow you to escape from reality and have a fun and exciting time.
◇ Director Ruben Fleischer
I feel incredibly fortunate to have been a part of this revival of the franchise. I've been a huge fan of the series, so it was wonderful to be able to join them and create magic together. I made this film especially for the theater. With so many magical locations and various illusions scattered throughout, it's truly a spectacular film. I think it's a film that people will enjoy, one that they'll want to watch with others, share the laughs, and share the surprises.
