A stage greeting to commemorate the release of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans: Urdr Hunt - The Trail of a Little Challenger -, a special edition of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans: Urdr Hunt, which was released in theaters as part of the 10th anniversary project for the anime Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, was held at Shinjuku Piccadilly (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo) on November 2nd. Also screening at the same time was a new Iron-Blooded Orphans short film, "Intermission Wedge," and Kengo Kawanishi Kengo, who voices Mikazuki Augus, the protagonist of Iron-Blooded Orphans, and Ikoma Rina, who voices Wisterio Afam, the protagonist of Urdr Hunt, appeared on stage to greet the audience. Kawanishi spoke about the 10th anniversary and the new short film.
Kawanishi said with emotion, "I was very happy to be able to return to that world. Ten years have passed, and my voice has changed, so I was a little worried, but I remember being happy to do the dubbing with everyone and see that world unfold here now."
He said he feels that his co-stars in "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans" are like "family," and revealed his thoughts, saying, "I was nervous during the recording, but I was facing the same direction as Yoshimasa Hosoya, who plays Orga, the Tekkadan, Gjallarhorn... We all went out to eat together and talked about all sorts of things. Even after it was over, when I met the members on other sets, we could still create that Orphans atmosphere, and we have such a good bond that it's hard to believe that 10 years have passed. I think we'll continue to have a family-like relationship in the future."
Many fans are looking forward to the new feature film. Kawanishi spoke passionately, saying, "I've been running for 10 years and I've been saying I want to do a movie, and now it's come true. If you keep saying it, I think it will come true. I would like to do a feature film someday. I would like to see a sequel to Urzu Hunt. I would like to continue running together with him, even more. Thank you very much."
"Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans" is set approximately 300 years after the end of the great war known as the Calamity War, and depicts the battles of Mikazuki, Augus, and the Tekkadan. The first season aired from October 2015 to March 2016, and the second season aired from October 2016 to April 2017.
"Urudr Hunt" is an anime distributed on the "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans G" smartphone app for "Iron-Blooded Orphans." In response to the app's end of service in January 2024, the second half of episode 12, "Sora of the Purple Lightning," was announced, but it was announced that it would be developed as an "animated video work."
