Looking back on the 21st week of the Asadora"Anpan"

The NHK Asadora drama series "Anpan " starring Mio Imada (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 AM and others) will be broadcast on August 23rd. The 21st week, " Te no Hira wo Taiyou ni" (August 18th to 22nd), will be reviewed.

"Anpan" is based on the married couple Takashi Yanase(1919-2013), the manga artist and picture book author who created "Anpanman," and his wife, Nobu (1918-1993). It is a "story of love and courage" that will fill you with the joy of living, depicting how these two, who were once nobodys, overcame all sorts of rough seas to become "Anpanman," the embodiment of "unreversible justice."

In the 21st week, Takuya Ise(played by Motoki Omori) reads a poem written by Takashi (Takumi Kitamura) and begins to compose a melody. The resulting song, "Te no Hira wo Taiyou ni," is featured on the "Minna no Uta" (Everybody's Songs) and becomes a popular song among children.

Although Taka has had some hits as a lyricist, his manga has yet to take off. He reluctantly accepts a request from Kentaro (Fumiya Takahashi) to appear on a TV show called "Manga Classroom." He is also asked by Takuya to write a script for a TV drama.

Worried that Taka might quit manga, Nobu tells him that he's been acting strange lately, but Taka, having been hit in a sensitive spot, can't help but raise his voice.

Nobu, who has run away from home, learns from Tomiko (Nanako Matsushima) the origin of Takashi's name and heads to the mountain alone. With strong steps, he climbs to the top and thinks of Takashi while feeling the breath of nature. Meanwhile, Takashi takes out paper to draw a manga for the first time in a while.

Nobu's words come back to his mind, and Taka immediately becomes absorbed in his work, moving his pencil. Returning to Taka for the first time in a long while, Nobu confesses his secret feelings that he has never achieved anything...and so the story unfolds.
