◇The following contains spoilers.
In episode 6, the armed group that has taken over the TV station, the demon "Hannya" is revealed to be Musashi's (Sakurai) brother-in-law, Ibuki (Kato Seishiro), an investigator with the Metropolitan Police Department's BCCT. Ibuki demands of Musashi, "I've given you all the clues. You have two hours to uncover your darkness and reveal why I became Hannya." If he doesn't make it in time, one of the hostages will die from the poison gas. Musashi, searching for a clue, begins investigating the "Kamaitachi Incident" that occurred five years ago.
The "Kamaitachi Incident" was an incident in which Ibuki's girlfriend, Kozu Fuka, stabbed journalist Amuro Mitsuru and university student Shiraishi Junren to death with a knife in broad daylight, and it was Musashi who arrested Fuka. Fuka then committed suicide after her arrest. Musashi believes Ibuki's goal is to expose the real culprit of the incident on air. Having obtained the evidence, Musashi begins to tell Ibuki the truth about the "Kamaitachi Incident" from five years ago.
The reason Ibuki transformed into a Hannya was to clear the name of his lover, Kozu Fuka. Framed for the murder of journalist Amuro Mitsuru in the "Kamaitachi Incident," Fuka took her own life, but it turns out that the real culprit who framed Fuka for murder was Yashiro (Takahashi Katsunori), who had asked underworld jack-of-all-trades Nopperabo to cover up the incident was Musashi. Musashi's crime was arresting Fuka without any suspicion at the time...or so the story goes.
Afterwards, Tengu and Gashadokuro take off their masks, revealing that Tengu (Daisuke Shiba) is Mitsuru's older brother, Kakeru, and Gashadokuro (Himari Hitomi) is Mitsuru's younger sister, Ruka. Kakeru and Ruka reveal that they were the ones who helped Aooni escape, and when Musashi presses them, asking, "So you guys were Aooni's allies after all," he replies, "Until halfway through, yes." Then, Ibuki says, "Let's introduce a special guest here," and shows a video of Yamato being held captive in a freezer, to which Musashi is surprised, saying, "No way... you're kidding..."
Social media was in an uproar over the video of Yamato being held captive. Comments included, "Yamato's been captured?!", "I don't understand!", "Unexpected," "Internal division?", "Why is Yamato still connected?", "Was he betrayed by Ibuki?", and "Could this all be part of Ao Oni's plot?"
