Actor Wakana Matsumoto appeared at the "Jurassic" series new chapter launch event held in Tokyo on July 1, ahead of the August 8 release of the movie "Jurassic World: Resurrection of the Earth." Also in attendance were Takanori Iwata and Ai Yoshikawa of " J SOUL BROTHERS III from EXILE TRIBE," who also serve as Japanese voice actors like Matsumoto, and voice actor Daisuke Kusunoki.
Matsumoto was in charge of the Japanese dubbing for secret operations expert Zora Bennett, Iwata for paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis, and Yoshikawa for Theresa, the eldest daughter of the family who goes on an adventure with Zora and her friends.
When she heard about the offer, Matsumoto recalled, "When I heard about this project, I immediately thought, 'Me?' and couldn't comprehend it. I felt a sense of humour when I was asked to do the dubbing for the new chapter." Iwata also said, "It was like a dream come true, and I was very happy."
All but Kusunoki tried their hand at Japanese dubbing for a live-action film for the first time. Matsumoto spoke of the difficulties he faced, saying, "This time, I was conscious of wrapping my voice around the entire background as I acted," while Iwata continued, "I was overwhelmed by the voices of the professional voice actors. I couldn't use the facial expressions or gazes of the actors, so I had to make my voice more convincing, which was very difficult." Yoshikawa said, "There were a lot of action scenes in the animation works I've appeared in up until now, so I think I was able to make use of that experience in the shouting scenes in this film."
The four of them answered the question "If you could meet a real dinosaur, what kind of dinosaur would you like to meet?" by drawing an illustration each. They each announced a distinctive dinosaur, livening up the event.
