The second cast of the anime "ALL YOU NEED IS KILL", based on the science fiction novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, has been announced, with voice actors Kana Hanazawa, Hikorohi, and Mou Chugakusei joining the cast. Hanazawa will play Shasta, who is absorbed in Darol's research, Hikorohi will play volunteer worker Rachel, who teases Rita, and Mou Chugakusei will play the playful Yonabal.
Hanawa commented, "Shasta is a female scientist who is intelligent and has a strong sense of her own world, but also has a casual demeanor. She approaches a mystery that repeats itself over time, alone, with an unusual level of tension. I tried to portray her with care to convey her nonchalant side and her excitement at the unknown. I haven't seen the finished product yet, so I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like!!!"
Hikorohi said, "It was a refreshing film, full of new possibilities for animated films. I would really encourage everyone to see it at least once. We'll talk after that."
Mou Chugakusei commented, "It's so interesting, so interesting. And after watching it, their daily lives became like, 'It's like a different world, it's a different world!' (When I ate some soba noodles after watching it, they were twice as chewy than usual)."
"All You Need Is Kill" is a Hollywood movie starring Tom Cruise that was released in 2014, and the manga by Takeshi Obata, known for "Death Note" and other works, also gained popularity. The anime reconstructs the story from a new perspective different from the original work and the live-action movie. Rita is trapped in a time loop in which she returns to the morning of the day she dies due to an invasion by extraterrestrial lifeforms, and her heart is eaten away by the endless battle, with no one understanding her. At that time, Cage appears in front of Rita and tells her, "I'm also... repeating today over and over again," and they have a fateful encounter. Focusing on the inner world of a woman named Rita, the story depicts her loneliness and suffering, her meeting with Cage, and her growth.
The film will be directed by Kenichiro Akimoto, who has worked on "Berserk: The Golden Age Arc," "Harmony," and "Poupelle of Chimney Town," and produced by STUDIO4℃, which has worked on "Tekkonkinkreet" and "Children of the Sea. " Ai Mikami will play Rita and Natsuki Hanae will play Cage.
