Saito Yuki, who played the first Asamiya Saki in the hit drama series "Sukeban Deka" (Fuji TV), which was popular in the 1980s, Minamino Yoko, who played the second, and Asaka Yui, who played the third, appeared at the event "Sukeban Deka Festival in Goodbye Marunouchi Toei" held at Marunouchi Toei (Chuo-ku, Tokyo) on June 7th. This was the first time that the three of them appeared together at a screening event related to "Sukeban Deka". Saito and the others held "yo-yos", a familiar item in the series, and each performed their catchphrase, exciting the audience.
Saito, who played the original Asamiya Saki, posed with a yo-yo in her hand and delivered her catchphrase, "I won't forgive you guys!" Minamino and Asaka each delivered their catchphrases while holding a yo-yo, saying, "I won't forgive you guys," and "I won't forgive you guys!", drawing applause from the audience.
When asked about her impressions of standing on stage with Minamino and Asaka, Saito confessed, "I never dreamed that 40 years from now I would be standing on stage with these two, so I'm really excited right now." Looking back on when she was selected to appear, she also made the audience laugh by confessing, "You know, I didn't want to," and said with a wry smile, "Because I thought it wouldn't suit me. Visually, I was so far removed from the image of Asamiya Saki that the author had in the original work..."
Furthermore, when asked about a difficult episode during filming, she immediately replied, "Of course it was the yo-yo." She recalled, "I once had to NG 26 times in one shot because of the yo-yo... Just think about it. I was walking and raising and lowering the yo-yo while saying my lines." Minamino, who was standing next to her, immediately revealed, "I was told, 'I can NG up to 26 times,' (laughs)," making everyone laugh.
"Sukeban Deka" is based on a manga serialized by Shinji Wada in "Hana to Yume" (Hakusensha) from 1976 to 1982. After the serialization ended, the first season of the TV series, "Sukeban Deka," aired from April to October 1985, and was well-received for its unique atmosphere, such as the contrast between Saito's appearance and the character, and the style reminiscent of a special effects hero, making it an instant hit. Continuing that popularity, the second season, "Sukeban Deka II: Shojo Tetsukamen Densetsu," starring Minamino, aired from November 1985 to October 1986. The third season, "Sukeban Deka III: Shojo Ninpocho Densetsu," featuring Asaka and the three Kazama sisters, aired from October 1986 to October 1987.
The event is being held as part of the "Goodbye Marunouchi TOEI" project for the Marunouchi TOEI movie theater, which will close on July 27, 2025. The project is being held at Marunouchi TOEI until July 27.
