In the previous episode, Kamaji (Kotaro Yoshida) injured his arm, and the stonemason's work did not go as expected. Furthermore, Hatako (Noriko Eguchi) lost her piecework job, and Hatako and Kura (Miyoko Asada) looked anxious as they looked into the rice bin. Nobu (Nagase Yuzuna) wanted to do something about the Asada family, so she brought Kusakichi (Sadao Abe) to her house with a certain idea.
However, Kamashige is vehemently against the plan, and Kusakichi gives up and leaves. Unable to give up, Nobu sets off once again to try and persuade Kusakichi... and so the story unfolds.
In episode 8, Nobu asks Kusakichi to lend a hand to her dejected family, and Kusakichi agrees to make them Anpan, on the condition that he only does it once.
Despite Kamaji's dissatisfaction, Kusakichi begins to build an improvised bread oven with the help of Katsura (Ogura Soga) and others. The sweet Anpan are successfully baked and sell one after another, and Nobu bows down to Kusakichi once again. Hatako also bows down to Kamaji and asks to run the bakery, and Kamaji reluctantly agrees. The next day, Kusakichi is nowhere to be seen...
"Anpan" is based on the married couple Takashi Yanase(1919-2013) and Nobu Komatsu(1918-1993), the manga artist and picture book writer who created "Anpanman." It is a "story of love and courage" that will make you feel the joy of living, depicting how these two, who were once nobody, overcame all sorts of rough seas to become "Anpanman," the embodiment of "unreversible justice."
