"Journey to the West," a masterpiece Showa-era action drama starring Masaaki Sakai, will be broadcast on BS12 TwellV from April 7th.
This work is based on the classic novel "Journey to the West" and is a masterpiece of special effects fantasy entertainment that attracted attention for its large-scale location shooting in China and special effects scenes. The theme song sung by "Godiego" was also a big hit. Sakai played Son Goku, Natsume Masako played Tripitaka, Kishibe Shiro played Sha Gojyo, and Nishida Toshiyuki played Zhu Bajie.
The story is about Son Goku (Sakai), a monkey born from a stone, who meets Tripitaka Priest (Natsume), Sha Gojyo (Kishibe), and Cho Hakkai (Nishida), and together they set out on a journey to Tenjiku... Tripitaka and his companions head to Tenjiku in search of the scriptures, but they face many troubles, including monsters and bad weather.
It will be broadcast every Monday at 7pm starting from April 7th.
