Actor Bibari Maeda appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) broadcast on March 31. She talked about her memories of her complex about her low voice and about becoming Koichi Domoto's "mother."
"My voice is low, as you can see. Soprano voices often get leading roles in musicals. If I carry on like this, I won't get any leading roles, and I'm not cut out for musicals. Maybe I should go into acting."
At the age of 40, she once decided to give up musicals and focus on acting. "Now that I think about it, even if I don't get the lead role, there are some roles that are much better in supporting roles, and without supporting roles, the play wouldn't work. If I'm asked to do something, at this age, I think it's best to make it my own, digest it with my body, and have people see it through the role."
In 2011, she appeared in "Endless Shock" starring Koichi Domoto. Although her lines increased, she was told, "Minami Minami's voice is persuasive, so I'll use that low voice," and she said, "I gained confidence knowing that there are people who think the same way."
"(Domoto) says that I'm the same age as my father. At first, I looked up to her, but recently she's become a mother."
