The drama series " Taigan no Kaji ~Kore ga, Watashi no Ikiru Michi~ " (TBS, Tuesdays at 10pm) starring actress Mikako Tabe will begin on April 1st. Tabe, who is also a mother of one in her private life, will play Murakami Shiho, a full-time housewife who struggles with childcare and housework. This will be Tabe's second time starring in the same time slot, five years after "My Housekeeper Nagisa-san" (2020).
The original work is the novel "Taigan no Kaji" (Housework on the Other Side) by Akeno Kiko (Kodansha Bunko). Through Shiho's interactions with "people on the other side" who have different positions and ways of thinking than her, this is a new "work drama" that depicts the never-ending task of "housework."
Noriko Eguchi plays Nagano Reiko, a working mother struggling to balance her work and child-rearing, Dean Fujioka plays Nakatani Tatsuya, an elite bureaucrat working at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare and a father on parental leave, and Wataru Ichinose Toraaki, Shiho's husband.
Episode 1: Shiho is a full-time housewife who lives with her kind and cheerful husband, Torao, who works late every day as the manager of an izakaya, and her cute daughter, Ichigo (Nagai Kana-chan). Due to a past experience, she felt that she couldn't do two things at the same time, and chose to become a full-time housewife, but she sometimes felt lonely every day with only Ichigo in contact with her.
One day, Shiho and Ichigo decide to participate in a "hand play class" at a childcare support center. Shiho feels a little hesitant to be in contact with people other than her family for the first time in a long time, but Reiko, who is passionate about balancing work and childcare, speaks to her in a friendly manner.
However, as soon as Reiko finds out that Shiho is a full-time housewife, she treats her with her other mommy friends as an "endangered species that has fallen behind the times." Later, it's actually Reiko who moves into the apartment next to Shiho's. An extremely awkward life as neighbors begins.
Furthermore, people who are struggling with housework and work in various circumstances appear before Shiho, including Nakatani, a "father on parental leave" who has a perfect child-rearing plan. Shiho's turbulent days begin with her encounters with "people on the other side of the river" who she thought had nothing to do with her!
