An event for the TV anime "ONE PIECE," based on Eiichiro Oda's popular manga, was held on March 22nd at AnimeJapan 2025, one of the world's largest anime events, held at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto-ku, Tokyo). The series has been broadcast on Fuji TV at 9:30 am on Sundays for about 18 years, but it has been announced that it will be moving to 11:15 pm on Sundays from April 6th. At the event, voice actors including Mayumi Tanaka, who plays Monkey D. Luffy, performed a short skit to announce the new broadcast time slot.
The comedy skit was set on a Sunday morning, with Tanaka playing the father of the family, Kappei Yamaguchi playing the mother, Nakai Kazuya playing the son, and Subaru Kimura playing the son's friend. Nakai and Kimura appeared dressed as young boys in short sleeves, shorts and yellow hats, eliciting loud cheers from the audience. Nakai's son looks at the TV listings in the newspaper and realizes that "One Piece" is not listed in the morning time slot, causing a commotion, but then realizes that the broadcast time has changed to the evening... The voice actors comically portrayed the situation. The audience laughed throughout the skit, and there was a huge round of applause when the skit ended.
At the event, it was announced that a "special edition of One Piece: Egghead Arc" would be broadcast on Fuji TV's "Saturday Premium" from 9pm on April 5th, the day before the time slot change. The special edition of the first part of the "Egghead Arc" that has been broadcast so far, as well as episode 1,123, the first episode of the second part, will be broadcast. The following day, April 6th, at 11:15pm, episode 1,124, the second episode of the second part, will be broadcast.
It was also announced that the official spin-off manga of "ONE PIECE", "Koisuru One Piece", will be made into an anime. The main cast members Ryosuke Kanemoto, who plays the role of Pirate King Yamamoto (Luffy), Ayane Sakura, who plays Nami Koyama (Usopp), and Yuichi Nakamura, who plays Usopp Nakatsugawa, made a surprise appearance on stage.
The TV anime "ONE PIECE" began airing in October 1999, and has been broadcast on Fuji TV every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. since October 20, 2024 to March 30, 2025. During this "recharging period," the production team is preparing to further improve the quality of the anime. During this period, the "SPECIAL EDITED VERSION "ONE PIECE" Fishman Island Arc" is being broadcast.
Starting from April 6th, Fuji TV will be broadcasting a completely new original anime "TO BE HERO X" by Aniplex and China's largest video site "bilibili" every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. as the successor to "ONE PIECE". The 9:30 a.m. Sunday time slot will be a time slot where Fuji TV and Aniplex will team up to produce new anime works, and "TO BE HERO X" will be the first to be broadcast.
