It has been announced that the TV anime "Kaoru Hana wa Brin to Saku" based on the manga by Mikami Saka, which is currently being serialized on Kodansha's web manga app "Magazine Pocket (Magapoke)", will begin airing in July. Nakayama Yoshinori will play the main character Tsumugi Rintaro, Honoka Inoue will play the heroine Waguri Kaoruko, Toya Kikunosuke will play Kikunosuke Toya, Rintaro's friend at Chidori High School, Koki Uchiyama Kouki will play Natsuzawa Saku, Ishibashi Yoa will play Yoda Kento, and Yamane Ayaka will play Aya Yamane who attends the same Kikyo Girls' High School as her. Kuroki Miyuki will serve as director.
The series is a youth school story about two characters who are close yet far apart: the protagonist Tsumugi Rintaro, who attends a low-ranking boys' school, and Waguri Kaoruko, who attends a rich girls' school. The total number of copies of the comics published has exceeded 4.3 million. CloverWorks will produce the anime.
Original author Mikami commented, "I was also looking forward to the announcement as the cast was finally announced! The character's atmosphere was finalized at the time of the auditions, and now that dubbing has started, when I write the story I feel as if the characters are speaking through everyone's voices. It shows how easily they have become part of me. In particular, the stars Nakayama and Inoue are thrilled every time they speak their lines, thinking, 'Rintaro is so cool and Kaoruko is so cute!?' I enjoy listening to the characters' dialogue in each episode with a smile on my face, script in hand."
