A teaser PV for the second season of the anime " Kaiju No. 8, " based on the popular manga by Naoya Matsumoto , currently being serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+," has been released on YouTube. The video features Gen Narumi, captain of the 1st Division, Japan's strongest division, in an unexpected appearance, and a scene in which he forcefully tells the troops to "show your overwhelming strength." Also included is a scene of Kafka Hibino being informed by Shinomiya Isao of the formation of the 1st Division. Gen Narumi will be played by voice actor Koki Uchiyama .
Gen Narumi's character visuals have also been released. Two types of visuals have been released: one in which he shows off his dynamic action while wielding a special weapon twice the size of his own, and the other in which he holds his special weapon with a cool expression.
A compilation of the first season, which will be screened in theaters for three weeks only from March 28th, and additional scenes from "Hoshino Holiday" have also been released. They depict Kafka looking distressed. The second round of giveaways to moviegoers will be a "Hoshino Holiday" flake sticker sheet, and the third round will be a "Hoshino Holiday" holographic sticker (5 random types). The second round will be distributed from April 5th to 11th, and the third round will be distributed from April 12th.
"Kaiju No. 8" has been serialized in "Shonen Jump+" since July 2020. Set in Japan, a monster superpower where monsters mercilessly invade everyday life, the story follows the adventures of the protagonist, Kafka Hibino, whose body has been transformed into a monster by a mysterious creature. It also attracted attention in 2021 when it was selected as the grand prize winner in the web manga category of the "Next Manga Awards 2021." The comic has sold over 18 million copies in Japan.
The anime will be produced by Production IG, which has worked on the Ghost in the Shell series, and Studio Khara, which has worked on the Rebuild of Evangelion series, will be in charge of monster design and works. The first season of the TV anime will be broadcast from April to June 2024, and it was also a hot topic that it was streamed in real time worldwide on Twitter in conjunction with the TV broadcast.
The second season will be broadcast on TV Tokyo and other channels from July.
