It has been announced that the TV anime "Silent Witch: The Secret of the Silent Witch", based on the light novel by Iku Matsuri, which is popular on the novel posting site "Shosetsuka ni Naro", will begin airing in July. Additional cast members have also been announced, with Sakata Shogo playing Felix Arc Rydir, the second prince of the Kingdom of Rydir, and Atsumi Tanezaki playing Isabel Norton, a first-year high school student at Serendia Academy. Kanazaki Takaomi will be the general director, and will also be in charge of composition and scriptwriting. Studio Gokumi will be producing the anime.
The first PV was released on YouTube, and begins with Monica, a reclusive genius magician, being tasked by her colleague Lewis, one of the Seven Sages, with infiltrating a prestigious school. It also shows Monica, who is extremely shy, struggling at Serendia Academy, where she infiltrates, and a scene where she slays a dragon.
The work is a light novel written by Matsuri Iku and illustrated by Nanna Fujimi. Set in a world where humanity has lost the ability to use magic due to the chanting of incantations, it depicts the exploits of Monica Everett, the "Silent Witch," a young genius magician who created the first chantless magic in history. Although Monica is one of the Seven Sages, the pinnacle of magicians in the Kingdom of Ridil, she is extremely shy and nervous around people, and retreats to the mountains to quietly study magic, but is ordered to infiltrate a prestigious school where aristocrats gather and take on a top-secret mission to protect the second prince.
The light novel is published by Kadokawa Books (KADOKAWA), and the comic adaptation is also gaining popularity. The total number of copies of the series has exceeded 750,000. Monica is played by Saya Aizawa in the anime.
