Additional cast members for the anime "Takopi's Original Sin," based on the manga by Taizan5 that was serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+," have been announced, including Konomi Kohara and Nagase Anna. Kohara will play Shizuka's classmate Marina, who is cheerful and has many friends but is harsh on Shizuka, while Nagase will play Shizuka's classmate Azuma, an honor student who serves as the class representative.
Obara commented, "As you read the original work, your impression of the film changes rapidly, and it has a shocking development. There are many scenes where you will find Tacopee soothing and cute, and you will feel that she holds the key to this story after all. The more you get to know Marina Kirasaka, the more various emotions she is filled with, and I am playing the role while cherishing each and every one of those feelings. I am looking forward to delivering it to everyone. I hope you will enjoy it."
Nagase said, "When the manga was being serialized, I remember turning the pages in trembling excitement at the developments. I never imagined that I would be appearing in this anime...I am honored. It was also announced that the short video series "Tacopi and the Feeling of Travel" and "Tacopi and a Walk" posted on the YouTube Jump Plus channel will be looked back on and posted on the official SNS of "Takopi's Original Sin". In addition to the videos already released, new videos will also be posted.
"Takopi's Original Sin" is Taizan5's debut serial work, serialized in "Shonen Jump +" from December 2021 to March 2022. Despite being a short serialization, it gained popularity, recording the highest number of views among works serialized at the same time. The story is about Tacopi, a Happy Alien who comes to Earth and meets Shizuka, a girl who never smiles, and uses his Happy Gadgets, which have mysterious powers, to bring back Shizuka's smile. The story depicts the cruel reality of elementary school students, such as bullying and problems with their parents, and became a hot topic, being selected as the third place in the "This Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023" Men's Edition. Although the comic is only two volumes in total, the total number of copies published has exceeded 1.4 million.
The anime will be directed by Shinya Iino and produced by ENISHIYA. Kurumi Mamiya will play Taco Pi and Reina Ueda will play Shizuka.
