The finals of the "R-1 Grand Prix 2025" (Kantele/Fuji TV), which determines the best solo comedian in Japan, were held on March 8th, and solo comedian Ore Tomoda won, becoming the youngest person in history to top 5,511 competitors.
Tomoda was born on July 20, 2001 in Fukuoka Prefecture. He is in his third year as a comedian and is affiliated with GATE. This is his first time in the finals, and he became the youngest person to win the title, breaking the record held by Shimofuri Myojo's Soshina at the 2019 R-1 Grand Prix.
The finalists this time were Hiro Okamura, Chance Oshiro, Tatsuhara Rine, Hagino Lizardman, Lucifer Yoshioka, Yoshizumi, Sayaka Niyama, Tomoda Ore, and Matsumoto Club (in order of their material). Lucifer Yoshioka and Matsumoto Club advanced to the finals for the seventh time. Yoshizumi advanced to the finals for the fourth time, and Tatsuhara, the 2023 champion, advanced for the second time in two years. Tomoda Ore (662 points), Hagino Lizardman (655 points), and Tatsuhara (654 points) advanced to the final stage.
