On March 6th, TV Asahi held a briefing at its headquarters (Minato Ward, Tokyo) regarding the April schedule changes. Producer Soei Hamada appeared on stage to explain the reason behind the casting of lead actress Kanna Hashimoto in the drama series "Takao Amakura's Mystery Chart" (Tuesdays at 9pm), which begins on April 22nd.
The drama is based on the novel of the same name by Mikito Chinen, which has sold over 3.6 million copies in total. Producer Hamada said, "Her overwhelming charisma and acting ability are suitable for a popular series," and added, "The main character, Takao Ameku, is short, so I thought he was a perfect fit for Kanna."
Although filming has not yet started, Hashimoto revealed how she is doing, saying, "She's adding (a huge amount of) lines every day, and for the first time, she's adding layers to her appearance to change up the feel, so she's working on the role starting from her appearance."
This is a medical mystery in which Takahiro Amakura, a genius doctor with superhuman intelligence and memory, uses his medical knowledge and diagnostic skills to brilliantly solve mysterious cases and phenomena. Shohei Miura plays Yu Takanashi, an internal medicine doctor dispatched to the "General Diagnostic Department" where Takahiro is the director. Producer Hamada appealed, "Director Hisashi Kimura will portray the medical version of Holmes and Watson in a fascinating way."
