The latest volume 3 of Kaijin Fugeki, the latest work by manga artist Ohgure Ito, known for works such as Air Gear and Tenjo Tenge, was released on February 17th, and has proven popular, with sales in the three days since its release recording 130% compared to the second volume. In issue 12 of the serialized magazine Weekly Shonen Magazine (Kodansha), released on February 19th, manga artist Shirow Masamune, known for works such as Ghost in the Shell, wrote a long message to Ohgure.
Shiro wrote, "Ogure Atsushi was already an artist of outstanding perfection from the moment he made his debut, but after 30 years he has become even more delicate, bold, and literary refined, and seeing him continue to take on even more positive challenges, it makes me realize that I am living in the golden age of manga. It is a little disappointing that the volume is small and I cannot fully enjoy his outstanding artistic ability and quantity, but I hope that Kodansha will publish a larger book one day (sorry for saying something unnecessary). I believe he is already very accomplished, but I wish him even more fulfillment and good health in the future. I look forward to reading this work, his next one, and the one after that."
If you purchase the latest 3rd volume at a store that distributes the bonus, you will receive a special holographic illustration card. The illustration shows the shrine maidens Natsu and Fuyu smiling from behind the leaves of the grass, along with a comment and signature from Ogure.
