The 99th episode of the NHK Asadora drama "Omusubi " (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 a.m. and others), starring Kanna Hashimoto, was broadcast on February 20th. In the episode, the results of a detailed stomach examination of the saint (Yukiya Kitamura) were revealed, causing concern among viewers.
In episode 99, accompanied by Yui (Hashimoto) and Aiko (Aso Kumiko), Masato visits the hospital and hears the results of his stomach examination from Morishita (Baba Toru), a gastroenterologist. Masato has stage 2 stomach cancer, and Morishita explains that he will need to have surgery to remove part of his stomach. Aiko worries, "Is that a difficult operation?", but Morishita says that although there is a risk, many people in Masato's condition have had the operation and been cured. Yui also encourages Masato by saying, "Don't worry, the surgeon is also very reliable."
Even after being hospitalized, Masato is anxious about the operation and seems to have lost his appetite. When Yui visits his hospital room, he confesses, "The operation... I wonder if it's painful," and "What will I do if I can't work like before after the operation is over?" Yui asks, "Have you thought about what you'll do after you leave the hospital? Is there anywhere you want to go when you leave the hospital?" and says that if there's anywhere you want to go, she'll give you a trip as a gift.
Masato responded, "... then I want to go to Itoshima." Yui replied, "When you get out of the hospital, let's all go to Itoshima together. So, in order to do that, let's eat well and get better quickly."
And towards the end of the episode, the day of Masato's surgery arrives. While Yui and her family are nervously waiting during the operation, Yui receives a phone call. Yui rushes to Aiko and Ayumu (played by Riisa Naka), who are waiting in the hospital room, and tells them, "The operation went well. Dad, you'll be okay now." The 99th episode ends with the three of them crying and embracing each other in relief, saying, "That's good."
On social media, in addition to comments such as "I'm glad the surgery was successful," "I'm relieved," and "I burst into tears," there were also comments expressing concern about future developments, such as "The whole thing going to Itoshima with the family sounds like a red flag, so stop it!!," "I wonder if they're really okay. I'm so worried," and "When I remember the trailer, I feel a bit uneasy."
