On February 6, TBS announced that it has reached an agreement with Turkish production company DASS Yapım and Korean production company Film Monster to develop a remake of the popular drama "Grand Maison Tokyo," starring Takuya Kimura.
DASS Yapım commented, "We are confident that by blending this wonderful work with Turkey's unique culture and sensibility, we will be able to breathe new life into the drama and earn it worldwide acclaim that is equal to the original. We can't wait for the day when we can create a Turkish version of 'Grand Maison' with our own hands."
Film Monster said, "Through this Korean remake, we hope to respect the deep emotion and message of the original while adding Korean feelings and a new perspective to convey wider empathy and emotion. We will do our best to ensure that Japanese fans of the original work also experience new charms."
Additionally, it has been revealed that the film "Grand Maison Paris" (directed by Tsukahara Ayuko), a sequel to the TV drama "Grand Maison Tokyo," has attracted 2.44 million viewers and grossed over 3.5 billion yen in the 38 days since its release up until the 5th of this month.
The main character of "Grand Maison Tokyo" is the unconventional French chef Obana Natsuki (Kimura). Obana owns his own restaurant in Paris and receives two Michelin stars, but due to a serious incident brought about by his own arrogance, he is forced out of his position and loses his restaurant and all his colleagues. After hitting rock bottom, Obana meets Hayami Rinko (Suzuki Kyoka) and starts life over again as a chef. Despite clashing with those around him, he struggles to create a three-star restaurant in Japan, "Grand Maison Tokyo."
