It has been announced that the TV anime "Bad Girl", based on Nikumaru's four-frame manga currently being serialized in "Manga Time Kirara Carat" (Houbunsha), will begin airing in July. The main cast has also been announced, with Azusa Tachibana playing Yutani Yu, who after entering high school starts acting like a delinquent without breaking the school rules in order to attract the attention of Atori, whom she worships as a god; Nina Hanamiya playing Mizutori Atori, a Madonna-like figure who is popular with both boys and girls and has fans not only inside but also outside the school; Misato Matsuoka playing Suzukaze Ryo, who is naturally mean-looking and has blonde hair that often leads to her being mistaken for a delinquent; and Miharu Hanai playing Ruriha, who has a high opinion of herself and uses her cute appearance as a weapon to work as a beauty YouTuber and reader model.
Tachibana commented, "Bad Girl is a work that keeps the corners of your mouth up from start to finish while you're reading it! Not only are the characters cute, but the jokes and retorts are always going to make you want to say, 'What's that!?' and the corners of your mouth just won't go down. And the interactions between the characters also leave you grinning! It's a work that's cute, funny, and precious; it's everything you could want, so my mouth wouldn't go down and my facial muscles hurt."
Hanamiya says, "The story is written at a brisk pace, so you find yourself wanting to see what happens next, and before you know it, you've read through the story in no time....that's the kind of fascinating story it is. I think one of the great attractions of the story is being able to enjoy the various relationships between the characters surrounding Yu-chan."
Matsuoka said, "When I read the original work, the jokes in it were so funny that I couldn't help but laugh out loud! I was grinning from ear to ear as I read, so I remember feeling sad when it was over in a flash! The series is a school comedy about Yu Yutani, a first-year student at Fujigasaki Private High School, known for being an honor student, who meets Mizutori Atori, the school's Madonna and disciplinary committee chairman, and his school life changes completely. In order to attract the attention of Atori, who he worships as a god, Yu gives up being a good kid and strives to become a delinquent. The anime will be directed by Furuta Takeshi, known for "Shaman King Flowers" and "Revival of The Seven Deadly Sins Sins: Revival of the Commandments," and produced by Bridge.
